What home remedies are there for a locked jaw?

For a few years, I’ve had a misaligned jaw and the left side cracked when I opened my mouth really wide. But for the past 2 weeks, the right side of my jaw has just gotten locked and I can’t open my mouth completely without pain.
For a few years, I’ve had a misaligned jaw and the left side cracked when I opened my mouth really wide. But for the past 2 weeks, the right side of my jaw has just gotten locked and I can’t open my mouth completely without pain.
I have read a lot about TMJ and people often advise seeing a dentist or chiropractor, but I was wondering whether anybody has any home remedies I can try first. I have tried massaging and putting a heating towel. Although the heating towel allowed me to open my mouth wider, it still didn’t cure the problem.
Also, I tend to sleep with my mouth open and I consistently sleep sideways, which I believe is what caused my misaligned jaw after years and years.
Any advice on what I can do as a last resort before seeking professional help??
Thanks!!

See if you can find someone who knows the “KI Method”. It is kind of like a massage, but focuses on the points of your body that need healing.

A few things Don’t Chew gum, and **** on lemons it makes the pain not as bad and may unlock it.
swish with a hand full of perrocside and a hand full of warm water that should help
Step 1 is a muscle relaxant or sleep aid like Tylenol PM to help relax muscles and ease pain. Step 2 is to begin wearing a nightguard. The cheapest way is to wear an over the counter nightguard that can be found near the floss at the store and you wear the bottom rubber guard to keep any pressure from clenching, grinding, or sidewarys pressure off the jaw joint. You wear the bottom guard. Wearing this nightly will help greatly. If you can’t stand it have a dentist make you a guard that is professionally fitted. They costs around 75-100 dollars. It will help and try not to do anything that causes lots of chewing (gum, taffy, thick crust pizza, etc.)
Go to the dentist or chiropractor~ keep this problem minor before it becomes a major one
