What are some of the best warming massage oils or lotions?

Jeremy A asked:

The reason why I’m looking for the warming massage oils or lotions is to help with lower back pain and shoulder pain. I’ve searched the Internet and found either very few or way too many at different sites so I dunno what is best.

KY warming jelly is extremely relaxing. But for back pain, you should see your doctor. Anti-inflamitory medication works well. I have scoliosis, and take Mobic for backpain.

Try this. And ignore the KY comment. That’s horrible for your skin and body.

Peppermint and virgin coconut oil are warm oils.

If I am looking for warming I usually go with Tiger Balm or Prossage Heat.

However for pain, particularly in the muscles and joints, usually cold works best. Cold will help to reduce the swelling and inflammation and get the blood out of the area so fresh blood can come in.

Ice packs for 10-15 minutes at a time are the best thing, but if time, environment, or conditions such as Reynauds Syndrome (extreme pain response to any cold or ice stimuli), or if specifically looking for a muscle rub - both Biofreeze and Cryoderm work fantastically.

Prossage, Biofreeze, and Cryoderm are not available in drug stores, only through Massage Therapists, Physical Therapists, and Chiropractors.

Getting a massage may also help to actually reduce or eliminate the pain.

    Good luck
