Are there any dangers in having a massage in the first trimester of pregnancy?
Cole S asked:
I just went and had a one hour massage and one hour facial, and skimmed over the part where they warn you about getting a massage in the first trimester of pregnancy. Now I think I may be pregnant and am very concerned by the dizzy spells I am having. Am I just being paranoid or is dizziness and nausea something I can expect after having my first massage and ******? It has been 4 days now since I got the massage and I am still getting the “spins.” Please help me out. Serious answers only please!

i would take a test and even if it comes back negative I would make a doctors appointment because if you are feeling dizzy you need to get checked out!
It may just be morning sickness. Massages or not dangerous so much, just make sure that the massage therapist you go to is liscenced to work on pregnant women, and in the future, that the therapist has a hole in the table for your belly. If you are concerned, call your doctor, they will answer your questions no problem.
You need to tell your doctor about the dizzy spells because they are related to blood pressure and blood sugar levels. I wouldn’t worry about the massage or the ******. The only reason why they tell you not to get a massage or to tell the masseuse that your pregnant is so they don’t do massaging that would cause uterine contractions.
I personally wouldn’t think a massage would affect your baby.. I don’t know about ******..were there any chemicals used? You are probably just worrying and dizziness is a pregnancy side affect. I would call and ask OB in the morning unless it gets really bad then just go to ER. Good Luck!
I think you should be fine. I don’t see how a message could damage you or your (maybe) baby.
A massage or ****** should not be of any consequence to your pregnancy. Wait until your third trimester. My girlfriend could have went everyday, she was so sore at times. Check out some places like “Becoming Mom” if its available in your area. They offer pregnancy massages and spa treatments designed to pamper you during your pregnancy.
You may just be dizzy from being pregnant, many women experience this… It depends on who you ask about massage, I work in a chiropractic office, we have a massage therapist there, and she says its fine, as long as you stay away from certain points. and usualy that is towards the end. (they dont want to induce labor) So no I don’t believe it is from the massage…….
There are areas that should not be massaged. I know, for sure, that you should NOT have your ankles massaged. It can trigger labor.
Dizziness sound like low blood pressure or sugar. Check with your MD. I’d doubt it has anything to do with your massage.
Your 1st trimester is a great time to get a massage, you can still lay on your tummy. Enjoy it while it lasts!
Go to the doctor to be sure. However, my wife had dizzy spells and nausea when she was pregnant with my child, and he came out normal and healthy.
No I think a massage is just what the doctor ordered. It helps you relax and help any muscle strain. It’s good for the mind and the soul. As far as dizzy spells and feeling queezy that’s normal. That is from the hormonal change. But if it continues and you have alot of nausea then consult your physician and he could prescribe something or recommend something over the counter. Good luck. Eat lots of pickles for me.ha ha.
Dizziness when you think you are pregnant could be bad.
Take a home Preg. Test or see your doctor.
Go and see your doctor about the dizzy spells. Also when you are pregnant and you want a massage you need to make sure that the person doing the massage is qualified to massage pregnant women.
